Many courses are specialist in nature and not offered by the main universities. Private colleges should be able to run without rorts, under proper auditing.

I come from the working class and have been actively discouraged fri going to Uni and told to get a good as a secretary or better still, marry someone nice. I chose to go to uni to be what I was born to be and a hike in fees will put that dream in jeopardy as I try to get my kids through higher education also. Give us a break Tony.

Why discriminate between those who want to study at different institutions? Each of us is following and developing the gifts we have been given! Therefore, why penalise those who study at a non-university higher education provider.

Fair go is all we ask for, this isn't very australian like.

I am passinate and committed to the undergraduate diploma i am studing which will lead me to contribute greatly to my surrounding community. This community support will not cost the Govermnent but my studies are not offered in the public University system. It seems greatly unfair charge me more based on were I have to study!

There are more than 100,000 students in Australia who choose to study with a non-university higher education provider. We choose these learning institutions because they suit our educational goals, career aspirations and personal circumstances. The degree we receive is of equal value to its equivalent at a public university. But we are penalised for this choice. As a student studying with a private higher education provider, we cannot access government financial support. Unlike students who study at public universities, we pay full fees and an extra 25% on our HECS debt. We call on the Senators of the Australian Parliament to support student choice. Why should we be disadvantaged simply because of where we choose to study? Education is about increasing opportunity for all. We urge you to pass the government’s higher education reforms so that all students may have access to government supported places regardless of where they choose to study. After all, it’s all about choice.

Please don't punish people who are desperately trying to get an education in order to become more skilled and employable. By doing this, I will be unable to continue my studies.

I support these reforms

These reforms may mean that i will have to stop studying.

My study is equivalent to that of a public university and accredited by same, yet I am penalised for my choice of subject that is not available by any other means. The high standard of my degree needs to be equalled by the same standard offered to that of the public universities.

I value the right of students like myself to choose the institution at which I wish to study. As an eldery person it is far easier for me to attend a smaller institution.

If more Australians are able to access higher education it will benefit our country
