Special events are a beautiful family and friend occasion. With so many people chasing jobs and moving to different cities and states from where they grew up, they need the opportunity to have a heathy safe place to reconnect with their family and friends. Not sure why this could be a problem. Maybe a compromise is to limit the number of events so the area is not over whelmed with traffic.

Sad that a few clunkers who have to be rediculas can ruin things for so many! We plan on doing this soon and wouldn't think of disrespecting the neighborhood.

Just enjoyed a week with 47 people in two Sandbridge "homes" and would not wish to see special events denied to anyone.

With families scattered all across the world, Sandbridge offers a quiet community in which to bring family members of all ages... If one wishes to participate the community events offer networking opportunities for making new friends, sharing adventures, etc or giving quiet times for those so inclined!!! I vote to keep "as is"... Those that disagree? There are other places they can go....

Our family loves Sandbridge and we visit as often as we can! With our Military family members stationed in Norfolk, VA Beach, Portsmouth, and Little Creek, and the rest of us coming from NJ, PA, DE and NC, a Sandbridge "event" rental provides an excellent opportunity to have everyone together in one, convenient, beautiful, relaxing place. While I am sympathetic and understand that the permanent residents do not appreciate any loud, crowded, traffic-clogging large family reunions and weddings in Sandbridge, I don't see why these types of events can't still happen there if handled appropriately. For example, there are limited "large" home rentals which accommodate these events in the first place. Perhaps more regulation could be placed on these "event" homes, such as enforced occupancy limits, alternate parking allotments, or limited dates/times/seasons for weddings, etc at these sites. As for the weddings that may happen without the need for rental home, not much can be done as no one OWNS the beach where the wedding is happening. The island access is not restricted or "private". It is a public road, with public access to beaches, etc. The Southern part of the island is a National Wildlife Refuge Park and therefore cannot be restricted for public access anyway. Residents are taxpayers and their voice needs to be respected and heard, within reason. The business owners and home owners that allow their homes to be rented are also taxpayers and deserve to be considered as well. Both sides have considerable investments here, and quality of life concerns in regard to this discussion. Perhaps a compromise can be reached through addressing the few undesirable disruptive factors that can occur with any large gathering or event. Acceptable accommodations that appeal to both sides can be implemented. Measures must satisfy the permanent residents, as well as allow special events such as family reunions, and weddings to continue to occur there with no infringement o

As someone who was married on the beach in Sandbridge I myst say that the Sandbridge area is a perfect place for a wedding or special occasion with a minimum disruption to anybody else either residents or guests not to mention these events are good for the local economy.. restaurants ect...

Do we REALLY need more legislation? We already have enough laws about public noise and littering. We have attended one event at Sandbridge and loved it. We had a great time. We are strongly considering a vacation in Sandbridge. As I understand, the handful of people spearheading the campaign to end events at Sandbridge do not even live on oceanfront where the events are held. I cannot understand why they want to end events through a covert strategy of new legislation that will make it too much burden to hold events. People will not stop having beach weddings. They will do it in Outer Banks. We need to keep our $$ in VA Beach in area!

Sandbridge is a great place if you want quiet and private getaway. That's what makes it special there. The residents have chose to live there and with that come vacationals . let the people be able to have a quiet getaway without load young busy crowds.

We just rented a place on Sandbridge beach this summer for our entire family to celebrate a 50th anniversary/a family reunion and went to a wedding. We had a great trip and created special memories for our family that will last a lifetime We hired a local photographer to capture our family. We brought so much love and happiness to that area I don't even understand how someone would want to put a stop to that. We were respectful and spent money there as well. Meantime across the street we saw about 15 cars from different people crammed into one house with all young kids. They were loud. Is that what residents want??

Why would anyone be opposed to celebrating special events in Sandbridge? I do not concur with the group who wishes to eliminate special events at the resort community.
