Removing vendors is absurd. I'm sure some bean counter in Albany made this decision.

I would hope that you would change your mind to let this wonderful privately owned company remain at your camp ground. For what I have seen they only add to your state camping ground

Have been going to Rollins Ponds since 1964. It would be a shame of the boat rental was no longer there. It would remove another way to see the beauty of Rollins Ponds and the surrounding areas. Lots of fond memories rowing around the pond.

As a former manager of Rollins Pond Campground I know the the DEC has proposed to eliminate this private service in the past and replace it with a rental system operated by campground personnel as is done at other smaller campgrounds.
At a campground the size of Rollins Pond the DEC could never provide the same level of service that the Paeglows provide. In addition to try to operate a system to supply the demand from campers. The campground staff would have to neglect other duties, such as cleaning restrooms and showers. I call on Mike Buzzelli and local Region 5 staff to rethink this proposal and continue to let the Paeglow family provide this valuable service to campers at Rollins Pond as they have done for three generations.

I have grown up in the area and worked in the fish creek ponds for 7 years renting canoes for Hickoks Boat livery in and around the Fish Creek and Rollins Ponds camp grounds. To hear that the state wants to remove services like this from the camp grounds is sad. These services are an expected part of the experience by those that camp and use the area. Who ever is behind this decision has no regard for those who have worked hard to make a living and supply and amazing service to the area.

This is absurd and another example of big government. Growing up we ALWAYS camped at Fish Creek/Rollins Pond and we loved all the vendors (especially the ice cream truck!)

Family owned businesses are what America was founded on! Let's keep it going. The Paeglow boat rental at Rollins Pond makes Rollins a unique and special place.They are friendly, caring, and accommodating. DO NOT close them down.
