My neighbors are very responsible chicken owners, I have no problem with this at all. I imagine some may not be, but why take away everyones rights because of a few irresponsible people.

We live in RURAL MINNESOTA people. FARM country! There are many benefits for having chickens. Responsible chickens owners should be allowed to have chickens with a regulated number for there coop. Just come up with the laws of how many, no roosters, cleanliness, size of coop etc... You get the idea! We were shot down here in Belle Plaine and it was absolutely ridiculous...CHICKENS SHOULD BE ALLOWED!

Chickens can be responsibly kept in cities. They are a great benefit to families, gardens, and neighbors. Chickens eat ticks, mosquitos, parasite eggs, and many other things that benefit communities. Chickens are quiet, about 60 decibels which is the same as human conversation. If appropriately cared for, their coops do not smell. Ten chickens produce the same waste annually as one dog, but chickens waste is great for gardens. Many other cities successfully allow chickens, New Prague can as well.

With proper care and common sense, chickens should absolutely be allowed. We should be able to remain self sufficient.

I already have chickens at my house in town. I got a letter this summer from Ken Ondich saying I had to get rid of them. I told him BS. There is no ordinance against them and there never should be. We are a farm community. Our annual celebration town celebration Dozinky translates to Harvest for a reason!!! I live in New Prague because of these values and there have ALWAYS been chickens, geese, and ducks in town.
