The legislative committee confirmed that the proposed restrictions on charter school enrollment have been struck down. We are now reviewing the final language to ensure no hidden amendments impact our current operations. I will post a summary of the new requirements once the legal team finishes their analysis.

School choice is a vital aspect in ensuring all children have a quality education. Providing public school options that extend beyond neighborhood and district-run schools is an integral means to helping improve our society as a whole. School choice improves the entire public education system. School choice allows families to find programs that best meet the needs of their families, and a child's individual learning style, which helps each child thrive and ultimately become a productive member of society. In signing this petition, I am showing my support of public school choice through charter, magnet and traditional quality programs. I support school and teacher accountability in every single public school and expect traditional schools to be held to the same standards that are now being imposed on charter schools. I will not support a candidate who allows for the destruction of school choice and who makes it more difficult for charter schools to operate. Charter schools are a fundamental component of school choice and provide variety of educational programs that meet needs of a range of learning styles and demographics. I will not support a candidate who instills more regulations on charter schools, but not on neighborhood schools. I support children, not politics. I do not intend to vote for a candidate that places the needs of children secondary to the desires of a political party. It is the obligation of our elected officials to better our community, and placing further restrictions on school choice restricts communities to the status quo of a mediocre educational system. Therefore, in signing this petition, I am showing my support for school choice by stating that I do not intent to vote for a candidate who takes action to stifle the existence of charter schools, their right to operate and their flexibility to provide a quality program.

I am currently organizing the data from our signature list to present to members of the education committee. My team is preparing a formal letter that outlines our specific requirements for regulatory parity between charter and neighborhood schools. We expect to begin formal outreach to local legislators once this documentation is finalized.

I get the concerns about pulling kids out of traditional public school into charters being problematic for funding. The real answer should be more charters, more magnet schools, more variety in learning options rather than less.

We have had a less than satisfactory school experience for our children throughout my husband’s military career. Military children already endure so many tribulations and hardships. School should not be one of them!

Charter schools provide successful academic enviornments for special needs children who otherwise fail at main stream institutions. Parents need the option of other free academic options for their children to be able to grow into functioning adults.

I am a charter school teacher. Charter schools are an exact fit for students who don't fit into the box that most students fit into. Working at a charter school allows me to find creative ways to inspire students who think differently, and help them succeed academically.

My daughter has been thriving in charter school. She recently switched to charter school and has been a very happy child since then. They offer her to love science for the sake of learning and non mundane rigid grading system process.

I support school choice. Charter school has positively impacted my family, when your home school has failed and you do not have money for private school, it is a great relief to have other options for education.

It is difficult to understand why the larger school systems, like SD Unified, would not support charter schools to provide parents a choice and a diverse education opportunity and relieve some of the class sizes and improve education. Charter schools provide better test scores and experiences. I am frustrated that California K-12 school national ranking has fallen to almost last place, yet our legislature is hostile to charters with better scores. Especially when so many teachers/legislatures send their kids to private schools. Why do so many counter productive ideas get passed into law when school choice has repeatedly worked? I will be vote for more school choices for students and parents and against those who limit it. Thanks.

Parents should be able to choose the education path that works best for their children. Public Charter schools work, that is why parents choose them. If our charter school closed we would not got back to public school.
