This petition is both for residents of Peters Township and parents of children that attend Peters Township schools. Take a minute to share your support of the Peters Township teachers. By signing this you realize the importance of education and the value of the Peters Township teachers. The Peters Township teachers deserve a fair and equitable contract for all that they do for our community and children both inside and outside of the classroom.

There are members of our community that seem to have a misguided idea that the teachers are out for just money and healthcare. A few of the major outstanding issues include class size, traveling teachers, healthcare, and economic items. The teachers are actually receiving no pay for these days to better the education of the students in Peters Township. The teachers care about class size and being able to individually meet for diverse needs of each of our students.

Negotiation Update: Final Best Offers Posted

The next step in the contract negotiation process between the District and the Peters Township Federation of Teachers is non-binding final best offer arbitration. This process involves a representative from each side, as well as a third neutral party who review the proposals and evidence provided during arbitration hearings. Proposals have been submitted by both sides and are available for review online and at the District Administration Offices during business hours.

Community members are encouraged to read both offers carefully and provide comment aimed at a resolution. Comments must include the resident’s name and address and may be submitted via the online submission form on the website or in paper form at the Administration Building, either by hand delivery or through the U.S. mail, addressed to Arbitrator Timothy Tietze, 631 East McMurray Road, McMurray, PA 15317.

The Public Comment period begins on Monday, February 22 and ends on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at 4:30 p.m.

Our teachers are one of our most valuable assets. They are underpaid, over worked and definitely under appreciated! They spend more time with some of their students than many of the parents do! And don't forget; A highly rated school system goes hand in hand with high property values!!!!

i have taught for 34 years in Peters Township. I am proud to work with the younger teachers who bring new ideas and enthusiasm to their jobs. They work many long hours, as do their older colleagues. The teachers deserve a fair and equitable contract,

Why is the public mad at the teachers and want them to give in? Put your anger towards the board and tell them to give in! There are 2 sides to every story, unfortunately the media and email blasts are only showing one side....the school board's side, purposely creating anger towards the teachers!

I am a paraprofessional working for PTSD. I'm not being paid during the work stoppage. As frustrating and difficult as these past few weeks have been, I believe our teachers deserve a fair contract. They are worth it! Believe me, I see it every day on the job.

Many of us moved to Peters for the quality education our district provides. I would like that to continue. Our teachers deserve a fair and equitable contract. I firmly believe both sides need to come to the table and meet somewhere in the middle.

My sister is a teacher here and from the start her work day has extended well past normal "business" hours. She puts in many additional hours to make sure her lessons are interesting and motivating. Her class size has always been large and her determination for student success larger!

Peters Twp schools are a bargain. Look how much scholarship money these students earn as they graduate. That doesn't just happen
