Forcing competition out of downtown. The downtown restaurants are really that afraid of competition. A young entrepreneur who had a dream cannot even sell food to people out of a truck. This is complete nonsense. The food was also great and reasonably priced.

Hmm, the petition says I am in Shalimar, FL, no...I live in North Hill in Pensacola and eat downtown often. I would love to see a more vibrant food truck industry. It will improve quality of food for consumers, the more competition the better restaurants have to be to stay in business. I understand it is the American way to try to block competition, but it is not the free market way. I wish I could grab and go lunch sometimes (I work downtown) or dinner. Would be a great addition to events downtown.

Variety is important, our free market system is important. I agree with some regulation as far as location (not on Palafox Street) but Baylen Street during after hours (after 6:00 p.m.) is a perfect spot for food trucks. Sometimes I want a grab and go meal that is not from a fast food place. Sometimes I want to sit and dine. Competition will bring everyone's "A" game and ultimately be the best for the consumer.

I eat at the food truck downtown Pensacola whenever it's there. Delicious food and great guy.

Monday is food truck night @ Young Cir. in Hollywood, FL. People walk to the park with their children and pets to try out the cuisine, toss frisbees, dance, whatever. The varity is trememdous and never the same. Restaurants have the trucks as to people hoping to open a restaurant, caterers and shop owners. It's a relaxing way to met your neighbors and friends, make new ones and enjoy Florida's beautiful weather. And if your Monday was a drag at work, you don't have to cook. On a night when there is not much going on, it brings people into the downtown area like our gallery nights do. So what is the objection?

I'm all for allowing food trucks in the city! They have (historically) had a positive impact on dozens of cities and to restrict that serves interest of the few, not the many.
