The subs are the focal building of Stroud centre. Keep it for the people of the town it is in and for visitors to admire and use.

Councils face difficult budget decisions due to central government cuts but the Subscription Rooms is too important to the town to be lost or sold off.

I love The Subs. Central to our community. I hope you will explore all avenues to keep it running, including the use of volunteers. Look to the model of how, for example, Windsor Arts Centre was started and maintained.

I am a regular user of the Subs, practising with my Morris side Boss Morris. Not only will i be directly affected, so will the community of Stroud as a whole loosing their cultural hub. It is an important assets to Stroud which we need to nourish and protect - there is so much potential!!!! I am aware of the affects of the closure of theatres in Barnstaple and ilfracombe (my former home) this year, so I am aware that closure here is a very real threat. Let's do what we can to keep this important resource for all the people of Stroud and the surrounding communities.

This wonderful building with its pinnacle location, unique ballroom and portico has been a home for some of the finest music and arts performances and exhibitions in the South West for the past 55 years since Stroud District Council took it over. Long may it continue.
