SUPPORT OUR 2ND GRADERS GOING INTO 3RD
Hello Second Grade Parents, We both have children in second grade and would like to make every parent aware of how our children's classes are changing next year. This effects every child going into 3rd grade for (2012/2013). 1) There are now 11 second grade classes and 11 third grade classes. As of now there are only going to be 10 3rd grade classes next year, Sept. 2012 , average class size will be 25. There are enough teachers in the proposed budget, because right now there are 10 teachers allocated for next years Kindergarten and only 177 registered kindergarteners. Why would an avg Kindergarten class, with an aide, be less then 20 children and 3rd grade have an average of 25? 2) The SIS 3rd grade schedule is slated to have all our children's specials first period when the children get to school. They would get off the bus and have library, gym music or art right when they get off the bus. This is not the best situation for academic learning when they will be in school for over an hour each day with out any core class instruction. We are against both changes. If you are also please sign below and by May 7th we will turn copies of all signatures to the Dr. Blanch, the BOE, Mrs. Gherardi, Mr Griffiths and Mrs. Elconin. Sincerely, Colleen Olifiers Sally Krauss
