I work for Orange Township residents, not the big developers. Unlike many other elected officials, I do not take money from developers, and I take the time necessary to research everything carefully prior to voting, especially on such a consequential situation. Everything I have stated at the meetings has been correct and accurate.
Again, the money will remain with the township and the schools, with or without the TIF. The roads suggested for improvement by the developer are the responsibility of the county, and it would be UNLAWFUL for Orange Township to attempt to do anything with them.
Re: -As a taxpayer, I don’t care which government entity takes responsibility—I just want our traffic issues addressed now.-
--The only entity which may legally take responsibility of improving the roads is Delaware County. Not Orange Township.
Re: -The traffic congestion caused by the Countys refusal to make road improvements TIMELY will continue to get worse as long as the Township refuses to get control of the funds. This TIF is a necessary tool for the Township!-

The information in this petition is incorrect.
1) Whether or not the TIF is approved, the tax dollars will stay with Orange Township. I have confirmed definitively that the county has NO plans to TIF the residential portion, or any residential areas in our township, as that is against their policy. The very premise for the request for the TIF by the developer is not valid.
2) The developer initiated this TIF, asked for all of the funds from it, and brought Orange Township a list of roads they said they needed to pay for. I noticed that these roads were all either a) roads that CANNOT legally be improved by Orange Township because they are owned and controlled by Delaware County, or b) roads in Evans Farm that the developer is required to pay for themselves. Why would residents want to pay for roads they either aren't legally responsible for, or that Ornge Township cannot legally touch? Additionally, the county has informed us that if we did collect extra money to help them with THEIR roads, they want a share of that money as well.
3) All exhibits and data were prepared by the developers and their legal counsel, and we have no way of verifying any of it. We have requested the data for their projections and forecasts, but it has not been provided to us.
4) A TIF involves taking money from other agencies that need it, including preservation parks, the health district, developmental disabilities, etc.
5) Due to the timelines for construction, collections, etc., it will be 5-10 years before any improvements will be made by the county. Again, the township does not own those roads and is unable to make any improvements.

As an Evans Farm homeowner with multiple kids in Olentangy Schools, I see these issues as critical to maintaining the livability of our neighborhood and the surrounding communities. We need urgent attention paid to the infrastructure in our area. The Township, not the County, is in the best position to focus on these issues.
