Support Orange Township TIF
We call on the Trustees to support a TIF and ensure that our tax dollars are used where they matter most—right here in Orange Township. Please sign the in support of the two letters included below from your neighbors.
Evans Farm is a unique and growing community, and it’s time that we, as taxpayers, receive meaningful support from Orange Township to address our ongoing traffic problems. A TIF would not raise our taxes—it would simply allow our tax dollars to stay within Orange Township to fund improvements that directly benefit our community.
The roundabout at Green Meadows, North Road, and Lewis Center Road has become increasingly unsafe and congested, with traffic regularly backing up to Old State Road to the east and Route 23 to the west. After attending the Trustees’ informational meeting last Wednesday, it appears that Trustee Knapp believes these issues should be handled by the county.
Unfortunately, Delaware County has not been able to keep pace with the rapid growth in our area. As a taxpayer, I don’t care which government entity takes responsibility—I just want our traffic issues addressed now.
Evans Farm welcomes visitors from surrounding neighborhoods for our Farmers Market, Fireworks, Jennings Park, and Tree Lighting events. Safe streets and reliable access in and out of our community are essential.
Please join me in asking our Orange Township Trustees to support a TIF that keeps our tax dollars in Orange Township, where they can be used to improve the Evans Farm and greater Orange Township area.
Respectfully submitted,
Brenda Gischel
As a long-time resident of Evans Farm, I became very concerned about comments made by Trustee Knapp regarding the residential TIF applied for which improves our Township.
What I've learned is a residential TIF allows the Township to keep the use of our taxes for the direct benefit of the TIF District, in this case Evans Farm, and for all residents of Orange Township. This financial tool does not raise taxes it redirects their use from County to Township! The use of these funds by Orange Township include, but are not limited to, building the Township trails and bike paths connecting Evans Farm to schools, parks and commercial districts, installation of hiking/biking paths at RR crossings, Quiet Zones, Rd extensions, and equally important to all of us residents the financial support of Township roadway improvements and public services. (Fire/EMS) (Roads/Parks) ETC...
Orange Township continues to lose millions to County initiated Commercial TIFS which redirect funds from our schools and the Township. This residential TIF keeps our schools and our township receiving the funds and spending them where they benefit the taxpayer living in Orange Township!
Our County property taxes continue to rise while our County officials sit on hundreds of millions of our tax dollars. The traffic congestion caused by the County's refusal to make road improvements TIMELY will continue to get worse as long as the Township refuses to get control of the funds. This TIF is a necessary tool for the Township!
During the Public meeting Trustee Knapp mentioned she was concerned about "what the County would do" and she has spoken to County commissioners. We need our Trustees working for the residents of our Township and not the County! GET CONTROL OF OUR FUNDS AND IMPROVE OUR TOWNSHIP!
Sign your name in support of this TIF and let Trustee Knapp know who she is working for!
