Dear Mr. Downing, I've lived in 98506 for more than a decade. But for the past 2 years I've been living in New Zealand working toward my PhD. One of the things that impressed me so much is the inclusion of Indigenous Maori language and culture throughout the cities and towns, You will see names of streets in Maori and all signs are bi-lingual. This request for a name change of one road is an excellent gesture and point of departure to a more inclusive and culturally responsive community. One that honors Indigenous communities, the first peoples of the South Sound Region. Billy Frank Junior is a National Treasure, he touched many lives locally and internationally. At minimum the city of Olympia and the Port of Olympia could see fit to change the name of Marine View Drive to a much more meaningful and historically significant name of BILLY FRANK JR. WAY on October 9th, 2017 in honor of Indigenous Peoples Day. Thank you for your thoughtful consideration of our community members' request. LisaNa M Red Bear

It would only be fitting to rename Marine Drive to Billy Frank, Jr. Way. He's an important piece of history for this area and there are Marine View Ways in multiple cities.

Billy was an outstanding citizen...of our community, of our state and of our nation.

I was so honored to have met and known Billy Frank, Jr. He fought and protected Treaty Rights for all Washington Tribes. He is my hero.
