While I was not ever a student of Mr. P's, several of my friends and classmates were, though. I specifically recall sitting at lunch in the CIrcle, and hearing one friend tell of an exercise Mr. P conducted from the perspective of the implied story. I was taken with this idea, and it opened up new perspectives for me to how I view the world, clinical situations, and even other literature. All from Mr. P inspiriing one, and that one likely inspired others aside from me. :) Mark of a good teacher, I dare say.

Mr. Peterson was the greatest teacher at AHS. I (Brittney Westley) was his student during the 99'-00' school year. He was the only teacher that truly inspired me during my 4 years at AHS. He was truly a artist of storytelling, and I always looked forward to hearing the next story from his past. Mr. Peterson truly cared about each of his students, and gave them the freedom to express their thoughts and opinions through writing. It saddens me to hear that he is being questioned regarding his teaching style. I stand behind Mr. P, and hope that the Scottsdale School Board understands that he is a gifted teacher.

It's truly unfortunate that our society has become so delicate that anything and everything is "offensive". Grow up people. Our society is becoming too weak and the outcome is frightening.

Mr. Peterson to this day has always been one of my favorite teachers. At the time, I didn't appreciate his class as much for what it was worth but as time goes on I now grow to love the stories we read and think about them constantly. His class was a challenge but I leavers from it and grew as a person both emotionally and intellectually with the help of his caring and nurturing nature and his compassion for his students that pushed me to do my best that I could in his class. It is teachers like him that we need more of, for they are the backbone of a strong education system in America.

Nothing says more about the quality of this teacher than the response of students who have spent time in Mr. Peterson's class. He contributed to who they are today and it is heartwarming to see their loyalty and caring for him. He is a truly magical teacher and it would be a great loss if he were to leave.

As bilingual student, he was one of a kind and was allways willing to stay after class and before class for extra explanation and tutoring. He also makes his classes fun, exiting and makes the whole class come in to play and participate. One fun teacher to have as you learn from stories that fall into real life scenarios.

Mr. Peterson has impacted the lives of so many students. My daughter is currently in his class and we couldn't be more pleased with the level of instruction provided by Mr. Peterson. He knows how to inspire and engage students. We are lucky to have him at Arcadia High.

Offensive material? What offends me is that SUSD (the school district I was a student of from Kindergarten through my high school graduation) is terminating arguably their best teacher. He’s certainly the best teacher I ever had in my 13 years of school. He empowered me to be a better person, and I matured more in a semester with Mr. Peterson than in my other years of high school combined. You will not find a better replacement; thus, continuing with his termination would be a FOOLISH move.

I proudly sign this petition to stand with Mr. Peterson who is a truly gifted educator. Arcadia has always had some of the best teachers dedicated to their students and Mr. Peterson ranks at the top of that long list. I feel sincerely honored to have taken his class 10 years ago and the lessons that were taught within the walls of that classroom have stuck with me through the years. I very much doubt I will forget them anytime soon.
