My children loved Mr P. We need more teachers like him to broaden our children's learning experience.

Mr. P was my favortite teacher at Arcadia. Everyone loved being in his class, and students were actually interested in what he was teaching!

Mr. Peterson was one of my favorite teachers at Arcadia. He taught us so much. Our eyes were open to some AMAZING novels, such as Catcher in the Rye. He pushed our writing ability and made us challenge ourselves. He would give us writing assignments, that we would read in front of the class. His assignments helped me a lot in high school. It gave us the opportunity to be creative and express ourselves. Mr. Peterson is hands down a FABULOUS teacher, who has helped MANY students with his teacher style. He was always available to his students. MANY, MANY, MANY students would be heart broken if you terminated this absolutely wonderful teacher. You'd be robbing future students of his teaching "gift".

I know one of his former students who became an English teacher because of Mr. Peterson. What are people going to go after next? I can think of many other positive ways to spend my time than complain about a teacher who's just doing his job well.

While I never had the privilege of having Mr. Peterson as a teacher, his passion, skill, and ability as a teacher is irrefutable to me. I have known many people who were lucky enough to be in his class, and every single one of them has told me of the profound and positive impact that he had on not only their academics, but also their lives. My youngest brother is currently in Mr. Peterson's class and he is yet another student that is singing Mr. P's praises. In my Dad's words "I wish my son could have Mr. P as a teacher for all four years of high school." The fact that Mr. P's job has come under review is a complete travesty of justice. If you think that the material that Mr. P has used in his class is too offensive for high school students, then clearly you do not understand the world that your children are living in. In fact, Mr. P's actions illustrate how genuine and caring he really is, by tackling 'sensitive' issues in class, young students can form perspective on these issues outside of a peer pressured context. If the school District decides to terminate such an outstanding educator because of a minority of misguided views, then they will be establishing a precedent for teachers to 'walk on eggshells,' worrying more about appearances than the quality of the material being taught and the positive impact on students. This precedent will limit the ability of great teachers like Mr. P to educate young students, sacrificing quality to satiate the mistaken notions of only a select few. Do not make this mistake by letting Mr. P go!

Censorship, pure and simple. Subversive authors like Edgar Allan Poe and Ernest Hemingway. Some of the material might be college level, but I doubt the complaint is about advanced curriculum.

If our schools had more teachers like Mr. Pterson , one that provokes minds to think out side the box, and become engaged in a topic not just do the work to pass the class. Me , Peterson is an asset , open your minds people!

Mr Peterson is the reason I am a journalist. He was an incredible teacher who taught me to love words and good story telling. I had a lot of great teachers at Arcadia but Mr. Peterson is the best teacher I've ever had. He should not be terminated for giving kids a love of learning, it is a big mistake.

Education works only when those teaching it have a genuine passion to provide to their students. It is when standardized formation comes in that students loose interest. Students are meant to be pushed to the line, that is how we not only grow but learn. If the academic world is turning into a factory style pump and dump memorization scheme then there is no place for teachers like Mr. Peterson. If however, the intention of high school is to grow students and to have them challenge the status quo in order to develop themselves into critical thinking adults, then the terminiation of Mr. David Peterson should be re-evaluated. Whitewashing the cirriculum of anything of controversy is akin to no school at all. Make high school captivating and engaging , not just a bland product of standardization.

Mr.Peterson was the best English teacher I ever had. I hate English and am more of a math person but mr. Petersons class was different. English was my favorite class that year because of mr. Peterson. He is a creative and wonderful teacher!

Most ridiculous thing I ever heard. very disappointed in AHS. best teacher my kids ever had.
Mr. Peterson was the highlight of my freshman year. I will always look back fondly on my time spent in his classroom. His assignments were always thoughtful and often demanding, but he encouraged me to learn more about myself than any other teacher in high school. I think he's a treasure, and we should support him and his wonderful and creative contributions to the Arcadia community.
