Ballyhoura has helped Murroe with a number of projccts over the last few years, without there help we would not have had the resources to go ahead with the projects

The proposed dismantling of the structure of Local Development Companies by Minister Hogan defies logic. There is ample evidence of their success throughout the country and indeed they are acknowledged at EU level as the having set the benchmark for others to follow.
I await any evidence that rural Ireland will be a better place for all as a result of the present government "putting people first". So much for the proven success of the "bottom-up" approach to community development. This is a backward step for Ireland. Is this what the present government want to be remembered for in years to come?

The local development agencies have the skills and expertise which will not be readily available through the local authorities. It would be disgraceful to dismantle the current structure which has served local communities well.
