The existing experience and relationships built at lcoal level are vital to the continuing health of local communities. This realignment costs the taxpayer, loses jobs and wastes time and resources. If it's not broken, don;t fix it.

The Local Development Companies provide vital services, delivering funds and support to local communities and projects throughout Ireland in a very efficient manner. When our all voluntary run, not-for-profit enterprise sought to recruit professional staff for the first time, our local LDP, SECAD provided guidance and the support of one of its staff. It subsequently provided training for Board members and assisted in the development of a Strategic Plan. More recently, it administered a major capital grant for our new premises under the RDP. I could not say enough about the value of Local Development Companies to rural Ireland. Their independence and record of delivery are beyond question and I wish to support their continuation as heretofore.

Would hate to see the local knowledge and networking capability of local development companies get lost. Also their ability to react quickly and effectively to commity needs, with minimum amount of red tape would be missed.

The tremendous work of Local Development companies should be retained as they have served rural communities in Ireland very well over the past 20 years. The bottom up approach is recognised as a model of best practice. Therefore, the present model must be retained to ensure we have a fair and balanced society to protect the future of rural communities.

stop the insane rush to further centralisation. Rural communities are being decimated.
