The current model has led by example and altering it now brings it into the political fold which would be a disaster for local communities

Secad Midleton provide invaluable services to local businesses. The government should acknowledge and appreciate something which is working well instead of making a huge mistake in cutting these services.

Please save these fantastic organisations. The current format works really well. We have seen tremendous work done in the Cork region by SECAD, and also WCDP.

I represent the Older Peoples Council of Clare and Active Retirement Kilmihil. Both of these organisations owe a great deal to CLDC their knowledge, expertise and help without a doubt is invalable to us. We support CLCD 100%.

To Mungret Heritage Society, the assistance of West Limerick Resources has proved invaluable in helping us achieve our goals. WLR has a team of dedicated people who are readily available with advice and suitable programmes. Why destroy a winning formula? It also flies in the face of EU democratic policy. Local development should be left to local communities. We need more decentralisation not less.

Local development companies are essential for Ireland´s economic recovery and are key to ensuring that we pursue a model of economic development that is more balanced, fairer and more sustainable. Local Development Companies are engines of volunteerism, and have enabled communities to make real and positive changes, thereby improving quality of life, generating new economic activities, providing new services and protecting the environment.
