Any dilution of the wonderful services and supports available to communities from Ballyhioura davelopment would be very damaging and counter productive for all parties in this situation.

Without the support of Wexford Local Development, our project to re-instate our slaughter plant would not have proceeded. This project has increased our workforce from 20 FTE's to 34. Wexford needs their support in this desecrated labour district.

Ballyhoura Development has done amazing work over the last 8 years with the MTB trails and other efforts. They have become a major attraction for the region and i fear the trails will not be maintained or improved upon if the company is dissolved.

Disgraseful what is being proposed on the Leader programme. County Councild hidtoricslly unable and unwilling to engage with communities and citizens. this was the reason thst LDCs were set up. participative democracy through LDCs work why destroy it?

I am Chairman of the Doneraile Literary & Arts Festival. I live in a very disadvantaged town in North Cork which has been hard hit by the recession and subsequent emigration. For two years we have run an annual Literary and Arts Festival opened by our President Michael D.Higgins and featuring some of the best literary talent in Ireland. This festival which runs for a week long was part funded by Ballyhoura Development Ltd in conjunction with our own initiatives and would not have been possible without not just their financial support but also their marketing, budgeting and business knowledge. This festival brought employment to the area as well as revenue to local hotels, bars, BnB's and shops notwithstanding the morale of the town and its hinterland. I have no confidence that the Local Authorities would provide the same support and knowledge base that Ballyhoura Development has developed in the region over the years. To do this would further reinforce the opinion of rural communities that they are being isolated and ignored by local and national government and implore that Ballyhoura Development and other Development Agencies not just be left alone to do the job they do so well but to also be further supported and encouraged.
