LPDCs have proven over the years that they have the professional staff backed up by local volunteers at both board & programme delivery level to give "value for money" service to their communities. The system works so support it ,don't change it.

You need local expertise and support - bringing community development to county level will not work.

The Experience, Expertise and Contacts build up by The leader Partnership in Co. Waterford in achieving significant improvements in Community Enterprise Environment, Tourism, Heritage, Education and Social projects is an invaluable resource on which future Economic Development should be built. We should retain this resource and use it to achieve future economic prosperity in communities across the regions.

The level of commitment shown by LAG workers living in the Community to that community will not and cannot be undermined nor surpassed by County Council officaldom, whom very often are unaware of places of disadvantage within their own remit.

Local development companies generate a huge amount of voluntary activity from people in their areas. It is vital that this contribution is not lost, especially when state supports and services in rural areas are disappearing.

with the professional and support of OLDC our community would be a lessor place, we have achieved a number of excellent projects with the support of OLDC.
Our Laois company has been invaluable in terms of financial grant support but also funding training where its needed and good advice at many other times. The community has benefitted hugley from their presence and would be at a massive loss without it. Our music project and heritage facility upgrade could not have happened without their input.

I would like to see the service retained as it is. I have been involved in community projects in the past and have felt the service very good where people have got permanent jobs from it.

I found the CLDC support great. My Business would not have gone ahead without it and is now supporting employment in the area. I found the whole experience to be very positive and the staff to be very helpful and supportive. The processess made sense and were as streamlined as possible.
