that's tory britain for you. never heard of anything happening like this when i was a student there a decade ago. though i was told wivenhoe students are being sent to colchester academy instead of colne so there may be some misinformation in this comments thread.

Local people, local school. Why now pay taxi fares for this young man when he could walk. Waste of time, money and effort for all parties involved when he could and should have been given a place at his local school in the first place.

Councils need to do more to ensure children are allocated a school close to their home and cater for vulnerable children who have SEND and take this into account.

I know children who live in Colchester, less than half a mile from Colchester Academy, who have been offered a place at the Colne and nope - they don't have siblings at the Colne.

Why be sent to a school out of the area when one is practically on their doorstep. It is ridiculous :(

If he lives in the catchment area and actually in Brightlingsea he should take preference over outlying areas.Also he's special needs isn't heed.Then make him special give him a place.

This young lad should automatically be given a place in the Colne..he lives here in brightlingsea. It should be all brightlingsea children given a place,then surrounding areas...
