Support Hervey Bay Special School

My nephew attends and this school should be running appropriately yes I agree there should be MALE role models all children need that and also play equipment school has only just gone back so why was this not done in the school holidays is beyond me !! And from what I hear there is little or no proper teacher supervision when children are able to play rough and things like shirts are getting destroyed from this hence if proper supervision this may prevent parents constantly having to purchase new shirts at their cost should be at the schools cost if they cannot supervise the children appropriately .. I mean I understand these children have disabilities so you would think the supervision would be more so than your average school for medical / behaviour problems that may arise !!! Come on if you want to be called a principle start BLOODY acting like one and do the job you have been hired to do !!!!!

You are obviously a parent at this school as I am. My daughter has attended this school for over 7 years. I have seen The school grow and the last year has been a very big learning curve for both students,teachers and carers. This school has finally started teaching our children instead of babysitting. As a parent I believe all our children have the abilty to learn and we should be giving them the best opportunity to achieve their best. If you want to spend time in your child's classroom feel free to ask. I'm sure your input would be taken on board.

Funny to c u very arguementive and seriously GET OFF MY PETITION I DONT HAVE TIME TO BE BOTHERED ANYMORE ITS IN RITE HANDS NOW TO BE SORTED OUT ALSO PITTY I STARTED THIS A FEW INSIDE INFOS BUT WONT MENTION NAMES, also how ridiculous is it that most teachers have had to do training and certs to get these qualifications these last 2 Wks so they can actually look after the kids that r now in their classes eg. Feeding tubes etc

Check your facts first. There are 4 guys on staff. Go to the p and c meeting. U will find out what's going on. The new playground is on hold as some parts weren't available until March. Please don't rubbish the school with only YOUR facts.

my daughter went to the special school for 6 years. she is now 24 but we sold our farm and had to turn our lives around to move to the bay so she could attend the school. it was marvelous for her. the principal at the time was amazing as were the teachers and aides but I believe since he left that the school is not the same. real shame. hope you can get some satisfaction from education department.

Wth??? no cooking or shopping isnt that life skills our special kids need to be prepared when they leave school????

I understand that you want answers, but you need to ask the questions to the right people.... which would be the Principal and the P&C.

kids need males and female teachers.and playground equipment.

Also different stories going around about playground many teachers say it's going, and it's only just new also the tree situation, I mean who cuts all the trees down? Heard she even wanted rid of the little remembrance one till was voted against, Hope she got council approval anyway IM DONE HERE JUST WANTS ANSWERS PROOF AND HAPPY CHILD!!

This is a petition not a disagreement!! If only u knew what I knew from in side and out side resources also my own eyes u would understand, and might keep ur nose out till u wanted to join this but as they say time will tell patience is a blessing. All good as it is now in the right hands to sort out!!!! And just in the best time too for election. This is not just for my son but the teachers and professionals she got rid of lol. Don't believe me ask her where is Brent Aubrey Trent the guidance officer Rob Simmons and why is Scott the only one there! I have wasted enough time with this I aren't even gonna bother with the PC, maybe they can help explain where finding goes these days

As a parent of a child at the same school, I have to disagree with you. In comparison to other schools, we did have a high ratio of male teachers at the school. We have lost some this year, but not all. As for playground equipment, there are sporting things available, the resource room and music. But more importantly, they are currently working on building a playground for the bigger children. Shopping outings and cooking still happen, but it's all been scheduled over a two year period (as far as I know) to allow all students at the school to access it. It might be a good idea to go to a P&C meeting, all of your concerns can be addressed there :-) Kind regards, Karen O'Connor

What happened to the rights of the person with a disability! Every child needs male influence, but a child with disabilities needs it more!!

I think it's a great idea to have !!

Surely these children deserve assistance the school must provide a reasonable outcome for all children

my kids don't go to this school but having boys I know how important it is to have a male role model around to teach and encourage them in a way that a female teacher cannot.

When my daughter went to this school it was a great school,it was designed for kids with special needs,such a shame it has been changed,you can not run this school the same way as a " normal" school the children at this school need to be taught life skills like shopping & cooking ?? What are they thinking and no male teachers or aids?? What about toileting ect these kids need male role models esp the boys,some of which have behavioural issues. I used to tell people how great Hervey Bay special school was & how much it helped my daughter ,now I'm pleased she is not still there.

Need male teachers to help these children as well , I do believe it is hard for female teachers to help these children when they are on a rampage physically.
