The community of Hā'ena is to pioneer their CBSFA (Community Based Sustenance Fishing Area) rules. We are at it's final stages where we need ALL the support we can get. It is time for our kuaaina of their land to take resource management into their own hands. Our kupuna call this ALOHA AINA. The statesʻ efforts to align traditional and cultural knowledge with western rules and policy have consistently failed and our fisheries currently suffer.
It is too late for Waikīkī, for the lands of taro patches that stretch to the reefs that once fed many communities are covered in roads and hotels and littered with tourist and polluted water! It is too late for Maunakea, for the sacredness of what she represents and the waters that flow from her majestic hillsides are desecrated with observatories that caused lake wai'au, our only alkaline lake to run dry to furthermore have no sustenance value to feed our communities in any shape or form. It is too late for Nā Wai 'Ehā, Wai'ehu, Wailuku, Waikapū & Waihe'e who's waters once flowed to the sea and fed most of the island is now but trickle of stolen waters being held hostage by greed.
Let's take back our kuleana one community at a time. By signing this petition you are supporting a much needed movement. E OLA KA HĀ O KA 'ĀINA! The breath of the land shall live
