Dear Senator Hancock. I am writing in support of senate Bill 260. This bill would give young people a second chance. I think our laws should reflect scientific findings recognizes that young people are especially capable of redemption and require them to work towards rehabilitation. Senate Bill 260 provides review of these cases after a youth offender has served a substantial amount of time in prison. It is an important piece of time recognizing that youth are different from adults. Sb 260, holds youth accountable but also provides a chance for young offenders to prove they have changed.

I was reading through some of the personal stories people left here earlier and it honestly just hit me how many lives are hanging in the balance while we wait for people in office to actually listen. It feels like the silence from their side is getting louder but we are not going anywhere and the sheer volume of these experiences really proves that reform is not just a policy idea but a desperate necessity for so many families.

Its insane we treat teenagers exactly like adults in our system. science proves their brains are still developing.

kids make mistakes. nobody should be locked up for life when they were just a teenager.
