Support for Keeping the Swine and Sheep Barns at their capacity & Hiring Kelton Rozeboom for Livestock Operations Management

Vet schools need to strongly support small ruminants and pigs.

The continued loss of livestock on the University of Minnesota, St. Paul Campus has had and will continue to have negative impressions of the school as a leader in Agricultural education. With the availability of many other Collages not far from Minnesota and others with a short travel time, there has been a great loss in students wanting a livestock connection to their educational experience. The University of Minnesota is a land grant school and it's impression seems to be that they are losing sight of the mission set forth by the founders of the school. It is sad day that the college continues to go down a misguided path from the strong livestock presence that it once had. Sadly by not hiring a very qualified individual such as Kolton Rozeboom only provides further proof that the University wants to eliminate the livestock factor from its syllabus.

Please keep these vital programs in place and hire the staff necessary to maximize the operations and educational benefits of these programs! Please!!!

Save the barns and retain Kelton.

For the continued education and success of students and future students at the University of Minnesota, please make the right decision and keep these barns open.

I worked under Kelton in the swine barn in 2023. He knows absolutely everything about those barns, and puts their care over anything else. He is therefore vital to the strength of the animal science program.

Please continue to support agriculture and provide a place for the next generation of farmers, veterinarians and all those individuals involved in food production to learn and grow in their knowledge of producing food in a humane and sustainable way. As our society becomes further removed from production agriculture there is a greater need to educate those students that choose this career path. I feel strongly that Americans should not be dependent on other countries for our food needs. We need to grow interest and educate students and the general public about production agriculture. In my opinion, the U of MN would be making a huge mistake to not continue to support sheep and swine production agriculture on their campus. Please reconsider your decision to close your barns. Now more than ever, hands on experience is invaluable in education.

MN needs programs like the swine and sheep barns to train their students to be the best vets in MN. Please keep Kelton.

I'm a UMN alum & feel these programs are an important reason students choose to attend the U. Without these barns & experience, students will choose other universities to gain real world experience. We are desperate for large animal veterinarians across the nation. The U will train even fewer large animal vets without the experience gained in these barns.

UMN ‘20 FSCN - Lambda Delta Phi alumni. You would do yourself a dishonor letting him and the program go. He was great to have as a fellow student, I can only imagine how he has excelled as faculty.

Kelton has been an irreplaceable part of the livestock operation at the u of m.

Minnesota needs the livestock industry!

I strongly believe the Swine and Sheep Barns would not be producing the high quality livestock they do without Kelton heading it all.
