Support for Change of BBH Lady Bees Lacrosse head Coach
To the BBH High School Administration,
We are writing this petition in support of Coach Todd Kortowich for the Lady Bees Lacrosse Program. An email with Coach Kortowich’s desire to coach in Brecksville-Broadview Heights was sent to all parties on June 15, 2023.
Through Coach Kortowich, we now have an amazing opportunity to elevate the BBHHS Lady Bees Lacrosse program into an elite-level varsity sport. We firmly believe that Coach Kortowich has the necessary skills and experience to achieve this goal. This will benefit our current student athletes while building the program for future generations. His approach to the game fosters positive, encouraging, and fun experiences while teaching the high-level skills and knowledge of the game that is needed to succeed at the next level. Our girls put in a tremendous amount of hard work to better themselves both individually and as a team and deserve a coach who can elevate this program in the future. Currently we feel the team has reached a plateau and a change is needed to compete at the next level. We believe Coach Kortowich is a coach that can lead this change. He has found success and admiration at many levels in our area. Many of us know Coach Kortowich through the Maxim Lacrosse Club for the past several years. He brings both his knowledge and a smile to every meeting with our girls. His passion for the game and his interest in making our girls excel both on and off the field is true. He not only has deep experience in coaching lacrosse but has fostered strong, positive relationships with his players. This is evidenced by the number of elite players that have returned to his organization to continue coaching alongside him.
Among his many credentials, Todd was the NOLL Conference Coach of the Year 2021, American Select 2027 (graduation year) Ohio Coach, and National Cup Champions 2022. Todd is PAP certified and has 7 years of High School Division 1 coaching experience at Avon High School under Athletic Director, Erich Frombach. In addition, Todd has 7 years of club coaching experience, 5 of which he was the Program Director. In 2014, he was involved in the startup of Avon Youth Lacrosse as the girl’s Program Director. He would be a tremendous asset to BBHHS lacrosse. And through his declaration letter it is clear that he has a strong desire to join our team as head coach. We feel Coach Kortowich will be an excellent match and will serve to elevate our team and build the foundation of a successful program.
While the girls finished the 2023 season with a winning record, this was, in part, because they played a weak schedule. A winning record of both lopsided wins and losses is not an indicator of success. Our girls need a coach that can challenge them to improve as players and teammates, developing their skills that they can use both on and off the field. Many of the incoming players for fall 2023 and beyond, have been playing since they were in 3rd grade. They are mature in the basic lacrosse skills and used to competing, and winning, against top teams. This is why it is critical that varsity coaching be at a much higher level than the current coaching can provide. We want a coach that puts the team above all and should do what is in the best interests of the team.
We want elite level coaches who want to come to Brecksville to coach. We want a coaching staff that will help our daughters learn and grow and are unbiased. While in the beginning stages of a program parent coaches are sometimes necessary, there comes a point when the program needs to move beyond that level to achieve their goals.
We support Todd Kortowich as the Head Lady Bees Lacrosse coach! All current, past, future and Lady Bees lacrosse players and parents are encouraged to sign this petition. Please forward this petition to anyone who will show support to Todd Kortowich for coaching in Brecksville-Broadview Heights!
Please include your first and last name when submitting!
In addition to signing this petition, letters of support should be sent to BBH Administration, including BBH Principals, Athletic Director, School Board Members and current and new BBH Superintendents.
