Chad McKenna, MNA Field Relations Manager, was unjustly terminated on Friday, July 25th. MNA staff leaders’ reasoning surrounds his announcement to run for Congress.

During Chad’s time with MNA, he has consistently demonstrated a deep understanding of labor laws and bargaining, impressive analytical skills, and an unmatched dedication to the nurses he serves. The unexpected nature of his termination has raised several concerns. First and foremost, it threatens the foundation of trust and justice that must exist between MNA staff and members.

The decision is unjust, hasty, and demonstrates a lack of insight into the detrimental repercussions on its members. Chad has worked in the labor field for 18 years and has been working diligently with MNA members for over four years. His wealth of knowledge and experience is unmatched. This decision by MNA staff will undoubtedly have a negative impact on the nearly 1,000 Northland healthcare colleagues and their unsettled first contracts, as well as members across the state, whom he supports in his role as Field Manager.

MNA staff leadership's response to member concerns is that "all decisions are made in the best interest of MNA." We insist they stand by that statement and reinstate Chad McKenna’s employment with the Minnesota Nurses Association, and we call on our elected Board of Directors to support the will of its members. Chad deserves just treatment, and MNA members demand better leadership and ethics from our MNA staff.
