Dan House has done more for the community than this entire council put together. When I have discussed this issue with officers their answer is "talk to the city council" . Ms. Marx comments on this issue was to "push back" on Dan's statements and "what is the actual ask for the council to do" as if their hands are tied. She says "they are working on it" but how? By defunding the police? Ms. Marx's complacency with crime and Mr. Olguin's arrested for assault while a council member I guess it makes sense.

I have lived and worked in Burien my entire life. I and my family have watched the crime and drug scene escalate. We need to protect our small businesses and keep people here. This can only happen if the community is safe.

While shopping in downtown Burien an incident happened where one of my family members accidently stepped in human feces outside a store. It was disgusting and horrifying. I grew up here, and I can't believe what is happening to our city.

My family has lived in Burien for the last 60+ years. I remember it when I was a kid and how great it used to be. Now days, I do not like.coming into town do to all the homeless and crime and trash I see. After 67 years of living in the same house (my father) he has had enough of King County and will be moving this summer. I hope people of Washington wake up and see the damage the people in office are doing to this great state. If it don't change soon, me and my family are moving out of state.

Please protect the businesses and citizens that pay taxes here. No more expensive flower pots taking parking spots, invest in our police.

I’m new to Burien as of 2 1/2 years ago. I lived in Seattle, the Magnolia neighborhood for 65 years. I love it here with all the great businesses, restaurants, and services. It’s just a shame if these businesses were to close. We must take better care of them and help them through these most difficult of times. Safety and security is a must for all and a vital essential.

I recently sold my business in Burien. The amount of crime has increased so much in the last 10 years. I will say that I did get great response from the Burien police, after pleading for increased patrols. But the amount of incidents did not decrease. My business was family-owned since 1971, and I unfortunately was happy to be done with it, largely because of what Burien has become.

Please address the safety issues for businesses and residents alike, by having enough police officers (well trained in how to safely & humanely) deal with the many homeless (many of whom seem to be on drugs and/or mentally ill), and gangs who are now in our city. It feels very uncomfortable and unsafe to be sitting in a restaurant and have a homeless person come in and accost the patrons and business owners, and threaten other business owners nearby at knife point. Both of these things have happened when my husband and I have been at the restaurant or at a business next door to the knife instance. This was pre-pandemic, and I can only imagine that things have gotten worse as people try to survive in a tough environment.

Bad move we need to support our local businesses period. This is like kicking someone when they are down.

I am in agreement. Burien certainly needs it own police force. Burien is a fabulous community with excellent shops, restaurants, library, local coffee shop and diversity (and so much more!). Let’s please keep it safe.

Crime has greatly increased In the greater Burien these past few years. It is a direct result of the Burien City Councils lack of good governance. The council members must stop their personal political agendas and work for the betterment of our community and it’s citizens. I have lived in Burien since 1952. I grew up here and witnessed many changes. Some good and some bad. As of late, most bad. Burien council; work to do good and help stop the bad.
