So much gratitude to LCBlackLivesMatter for helping coordinate a buddy system this week for folks walking around campus at night.

CAS 2012 It is hard to believe that this racist attitude persists even on one of the most forward-thinking college campuses in the United States.

As an alum of this institution it horrifies me to see this kind of behavior going on there. There was a swastica incident during my tenure there and as a Jewish student I was afraid. Let's show every student who is afraid that they have more people supporting them than people who are out to scare them.

Things will get worse as long as we let them. I'll work every day towards a campus free from racism and oppression

While I do not think it is possible to rid the world of misguided hatred and stupidity, I do think that we can make conscious, consistent and tangible changes to form and inform the intentional community we wish to see and be at L&C. In doing so, we join those across the nation at other colleges and universities as we all struggle to awake from the nightmares of history and move our dreams of solidarity, respect, peace and intelligent loving cultivation for the present into reality.

I am about to graduate in three weeks, and feel strongly that not everything has been done on campus that could be done to create intellectual diversity and understanding, which I think has directly lead to these unforgivable statements. I stand as a student ally with those community members directly affected yesterday and will lend my voice in the coming months as an alum.
