"Every person in this room remembers a teacher or mentor that made a difference in their lives. Every person in this room remembers moment in which and educator showed them something about the world -- or something about themselves -- that chanced their lives... And innovators... are made in those moments. Scientists and engineers are made in those moments..."

- President Barack Obama; January, 2010

This quote exemplify the vision of the Indian Natural Resource Science & Engineering Program (INRSEP) at Humboldt State. Throughout its 45 years history at Humboldt State University (HSU), the INRSEP 'house' has guided hundreds of underrepresented students through their undergraduate programs and to succeed in professional jobs and/or advanced degree. Under the recent leadership of the visionary mentor, Dr. Jacquelyn Bolman, INRSEP has blossomed into a nationally renowned academic support program. This highly successful program, along with other diversity programs at HSU, have been under constant threat of budget reduction, consolidation, and staff reduction by the university administration. We have credible reason to believe that the administration have plans to further reduce funding of INRSEP and other diversity programs; going as far as allegations of removing Dr. Jacquelyn Bolman. This cut of funding and staffing can occur as soon as the semester ends (May 16th). WE the students will not stand for any further negative actions to be taken against our support program and community. We demand that job security be granted to Dr. Bolman, no further funding cuts be implemented against INRSEP and any HSU diversity programs, and allow these amazing programs to function without threat of closure or consolidation.
