I would like to start by saying Thank You, to all the first responders for everything that you do and for every life you saved. It is one hell of a job and especially during the pandemic. First responders such as EMTs and Paramedics risk their life everyday to save ours. If that wasn't enough, it's also a very dangerous job because within the past week, two EMT trucks were robbed at gun point. EMT workers sometimes have to work two jobs to make ends meet due to the low wages being paid to them. Currently, EMT workers make $15 per hour and Paramedics make about $25, with no benefits of any kind. These professionals are faced with death on a daily basis and is this what they deserve? In the face of all this, the New York Post makes the life of one first responder even more difficult by getting her fired from her paramedic job. They had the audacity to contact her paramedic employer about her other job that is completely unrelated and which resulted in her being fired. I ask everyone to boycott the New York Post for not supporting first responders and I ask for an increase in salaries for EMT workers to at least $20/hour and Paramedics to at least $40/hour. Thank you will not help them make a living, sign and share the petition.
