The CCL proposal to "upgrade an existing surface road (501)" to a limited access roadway that has the capacity to safely accommodate many residents and visitors possible exit from the Grand Strand in the case of a mandatory evacuation is dangerous. Their proposal, if actually implemented, is not only financially ludicrous but could result in harm to the general public. The CCL is proposing this alternative to raise money from their left-wing funders and ultimately keep growth of this area to a minimum because of lack of safe roads. I urge you to sign this petition.

The CCL says they can improve SC38 and US501 to interstate standards for $183M, or $4.36M/mile for the 42 miles. To say that estimate is ludicrous would be a gross understatement. It is costing approximatelly $10.6M/mile just to widen SC707 the 9+ miles from Enterprise Road to US17....and that project has no interchanges or frontage roads. Bogus is too mild a word to describe the CCL proposal.

Getting I-73 started is long overdue to advance the Grand Strand to great new heights

Careful consideration has been given to the current plan.

The Little River Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Center's Board of Directors voted a resolution in support of I-73 in 2011 and it will remain in our legislative agenda each year until we see it completed.

It is time that I-73 gets underway and allows the counties that will be effected, benefit from the economy that I-73 will bring....

It would be ridiculous and cost prohibitive to do what the CCL suggests!!!!

this interstate has gone through more review than any other interstate in recent history. The Grand Strand must have I73.

As one of the only communities in the country without interstate access, I-73 is essential to our future prosperity and necessary for our safety in case of a hurricane evacuation. I fully support the existing plans for I-73.

The so-called Grand Strand Expressway is a foolish idea proposed by CCL, simply to obstruct progress as they have done with other important road projects. The CCL promised that if I-73 were built north of 501 they would not object, but they've broken their promise. Sadly, they are peddling the notion of widening existing highways without telling the full truth. To convert these existing roads into an expressway would require them to limit peoples' access to the road and potentially condemn/purchase entire properties. It's time to create 29,000 jobs and move forward with Interstate 73.
