In times of crisis, administrative barriers to care must be adjusted to reflect the rebalancing of risk. The risk of no access to mental health care in Colorado is too great to ignore.

I highly support Colorado passing legislation, allowing psychologists to prescribe psychiatric medication. This is a proven method of expanding high quality mental health care to the citizens of Colorado.

Prescribing Psychologist- Iowa

Research shows that adequately trained psychologists can safely and effectively prescribe psychotropic medications to their patients, while offering ongoing diagnostic assessment and therapuetic intervention. There is a signficant need in Colorado for prescribers to address the mental health needs in our communities.

Appropriately trained psychologists prescribe safely and competently. They deliver comprehensive care by also providing psychotherapy and assessment services along side prescriptions (if needed). The improve access to care, particularly in the underfunded and underserved sectors. The time is now to help the people of Colorado.

I support prescriptive authority to advanced and specialized trainers psychologist in Colorado. Mental health is a serious issue in this country and those with proper training, should be allowed to prescribe proper medication.
