Thank you for all the community support. While it saddens me to see the most vulnerable members of our community being used as a political football, I look forward to engaging in dialogue with those who are genuinely interested in dialogue and am heartened that many in our community recognize our call to provide for our brothers and sisters.

I am so fortunate to work with a group of people who work tirelessly to help those less fortunate. This new space will be convenient to social services and transportation. It will be more private, more spacious and more efficient in every way. Each of us is only two major life events away from needing social services or being homeless. Let’s help our neighbors, veterans, and those seeking refuge from violence get their lives back on track. Can’t wait to see this new space come to fruition!

As an employee of CHHOP, who pays 24.63% of my income just in Peekskill property taxes, making me pocket change away from being homeless in NY, I have more skin in this game than most about the direction of "our city." Does the opposition honestly believe we plan to be bad neighbors? Where was everyone in 2011 when I, quite alone, fought to keep a ped off Buena Vista? Crickets, from all. I wouldn't work at CHHOP if we allowed sex offenders in; full stop. Obvious why, think about it for a minute. The opposition should question our leadership, plans, and operations; they have every right so to do. Cynthia is an extraordinary leader; we have an exceptional board and team working tirelessly damn near 24x7 to make CHHOP the best shelter in the state (some have said we already are!). And we can make it even better, I believe, by moving to a more appropriate place to help those without any pocket change at all. Besides, we'll have the classiest frontage on all of Washington St. Stay tuned to see the detailed plans.

It's important that the CHHOP offer this Community support that is much need at a time where service are being cut in other areas. The new location is accessible and a convenient for transportation to the people in need. Please support it. You never know if your family will be in need of this suppott in the future.

The shelter needs the new location and right by social services and on the bus line is very useful. There will be more services available for the homeless.

I am a Board member for CHHOP and a long time Peekskill resident. CHHOP serves Veterans and people in need in this community. If not CHHOP then who? If not now then when? Please join us in our effort to continue to be a bridge over troubled waters for the people of this community.

Many of CHHOP's clients are veterans. They've given their service to our country; we must care for them in their times of profound need.
