Unfair commercial lobbying - No! Justifiable petitioning and demonstrations - Yes!
The Lobbying Bill, unamended, would be a restraint on democracy, and Lord Harries' amendments should be accepted.
Free and unfettered discussion and comment must continue to be the mainstay of our democracy.
This is a shameless attempt to remove our democratic right to freely campaign against bad policies.

In this country freedom of speech must never be threatened.
I am past chairman of local Council of Voluntary Service andfeel the bill would inhibit properrepresentation of our over 100 affiliated bodies.
This Bill has been badly drafted without thought to the consequences should it become law.
