I find it sad but not entirely surprising that mass action of this sort is still needed. What is it that our (sic) lawmakers don't understand about Freedom of Speech?

It appears the this Bill has been put together in a rush without any consideration or analysis of the outcome.

Yes. Politicians seem to have utterly lost track of "democracy". They happily push through policies not in election manifestos and things they've promised not to are done. Then they rave about democracy meaning a referendum on the EU. They have no idea about how far away they are from democratic engagement with even the section of the electorate that votes . They appeal only to those electors who will agree with them, in the expectation that others will despair and not vote at all.

There is a clear dysfunction in the minds of those who drafted this Bill. They appear to think that Parliament in and of itself is the be-all and end-all of democracy. If it was an undergraduate essay it would get a Gamma Double Minus! Democracy must be about how people think, act, work for and develop frameworks of action and support within their own communities. Without that active engagement there can be no real democratic framework in terms of our everyday life.

Britain should be a healthy democracy, but this bill will hinder the chances of it staying that way, or even deteriorate our system of government. This bill must be stopped before it's too late!

Given the low esteem in which party politics are currently held charities and campaigning groups are essential vehicles for expressing public opinion.

This bill even in the other two parts is still restricting freedom. The ammendments to section 2 are merely ammendments and the whole of this part of the bill is unnecesary and a further attack on civil liberties.

Democracy must be preserved if only as a reminder to politicians why they are Parliament and how they got there.

The bill as drafted threatens the democratic process, particularly when viwed alongside the local authorities audit bill which seeks to limit their ability to voice constituent concerns. the government should make an explicit statement that this not their intention with either Bill.
