As a former British soldier who has been through two wars in living memory, a guiding ethosfor me wasthat I was fighting for a democracy where individual freedom was valued. Unless amendments are made to the Bill the blood I and my comrades shed would have been in vain.

I have on many occasions joined with charities and campaign groups to lobby for changes to overseas aid and trade relations with developing countries. As a Christian I am concerned that we should be able to lobby on behalf of the disadvantaged in the world.

I think that it is essential to allow chaarities and campaigning groups the opportunity to speak out on issues which are of national and international importance, rather than threatening the universal right regarding freedom of speech.

How many of our people from previous generations have given there lives to defend free speech, undoubtedly under this government, and the last freedom of speech is being eroded in a sinister and subtle way lets fight to preserve hard won freedoms

Frankly, this Bill should be scrapped. Civil society should not have any more impediments thrown in its way to prevent participation in our democracy.
