The is a clear distinction between campaigns about issues and poliitcal campaigns. It is undemocratic and unnecessary to stop charities and campaigning groups that are essentially apolitica.

The right to free speech is one of the basic rights of a democracy. It behoves us all to remember that, in recent years, British troops have given their lives to protect the rights of people in other countries to build a democratic nation.

Whether or not one has sympathy with any charity or other lobbying organisation, it is fundamentally wrong to curb their capacity to be heard to this extent when important issues need to be debated failry. This Bill goes too far and flies in the face of what this government and politicians in general purport to hold dear about democratic values and process.
