My son is still in the Rnicu so I can use their rooms but when I go back to work i'm nervous for what I'm going to encounter. I think they should also provide pumps so breastfeeding moms don't have to lug around heavy portable pumps.

There should be many more pumping areas available for caregivers. I pumped for a year and frequently had to wait in line or return to my unit because lactation rooms were occupied - not to mention the rooms were often dirty and lacking basic things like paper towel or soap. Breastfeeding/pumping is stressful enough without adequate and clean pumping areas.

I have never been a mom but, I would think a little cubby somewhere on each floor ( not unit) would provide the access closeer to a persons work area would decreases stress on the working mom/ caregiver. A less stress caregiver would imagine better care for there patients. This would also promote Sparrows programs regarding encouraging breast feeding.

I will be on leave soon for my first child an am concerned for when I come back to work. I work in the basement and getting to the pumping room on the 3rd floor will take too much time. My other choice is in the locker rooms beside the toilets...yuck...who wants to make food in the bathroom? How about a pumping room on each floor?

As a patient, I was expected to breast feed. However, the institution is not breast feeding friendly for it’s employees. Need more designated places available and the already established rooms need a lot of TLC. It’s very stressful to find a place to pump in the time allotted for your break.

I've had to pump in locker rooms with a partial curtain between myself and the restrooms. This is rather disturbing when they are in use while I eat my lunch. I have also pumped in the locker room where people change at, because I had no where else to go. Not only is there no privacy for myself, but I frequently become in the way when people need in their lockers or need to change. It's definitely time for a change!

Theres this small area next to the bathroom stalls separated by a curtain where one can shower if needed. Thats where they want us to pump. Gross!

I am new to working in the hospital and have quickly learned how hard it can be to find a few spare minutes to eat lunch, much less to pump. As a hospital, Sparrow should encourage and support healthy habits and practice what they preach!
