Visit 10 dairy farms. Then visit 10 beef, hog, sheep or goat farms. You will immediately notice a significant difference in quality of the buildings. homes, and equipment. The current supply management system for dairy farmers has allowed them to create not only quality operations with high animal care standards, but it has allowed dairy farmers to have a quality of life envied by other livestock producers. They can afford equipment, hired help and time off. Dairy farms continue to operate as family enterprises capable of producing a good living wage. Very few other livestock operations are able to do this. This system is a model for other farmers and should not be dismantled to satisfy a cheap supply and demand system which will only enrich the end marketer and impoverish the farm producer.

The Canadian dairy industry has been a major employer of myself and my children. My daughter and i both work for dairy farmers which is in our opinion the best job in the world, and pays us well above minimum wage. And my son worked for a dairy maintenance company for several years which was great training for his current trade.

I support Canadian dairy farmers, and do not support imported milk products.
