Dear Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia:
As a California avocado grower I am writing to inform you of my support for your bill, AB 710, which would prohibit the sale of the listed agricultural produce that do not meet California’s pesticide and labor regulations.
California laws require growers to follow some of the strictest environmental, labor, and health and safety regulations in the country. California’s pesticide regulations, for example, exist in order to ensure health and safety standards for our consumers. The state should ensure that produce sold into the state meet the same requirements.
The California Avocado Coalition supports AB 710 and I ask that you add avocados to the list of agricultural products in your bill. I look forward to working with you to ensure its passage.

I am an avocado producer and this would make it fair for growers and producers who are already at a disadvantage with higher labor and water costs.
I am an avocado grower from Santa Barbara County. I support AB 710 and believe avocados should be added to the list of agricultural products in your bill.
I have been in the Avocado industry for 51 years. My business sells all types of Agricultural products including pesticides. This has been such a long standing oversight.
Why should I as a California avocado farmer be penalized with strict environmental, labor, health, and minimum wage laws when imports don't have to.
This is a health issue first, truth in marketing second and an economic issue lastly. California has been great at combating polution and should continue to do so.
California agricultural regulations for the environment, health, safety, and labor should be for ALL food that comes in to California, not just California farmers. And PLEASE ADD AVOCADOS to AB710. Thank you!
