Support the Instabike Bike Share in Key West. Its good for the city, locals and our environment. Innovation and new ideas should be embraced by city government not held back by needless red tape. As of today, the City Of Key West has effectively killed our program, by saying that we cannot use the City bike racks and that they will not lease us space to install our own. They are forcing us to operate from Private Property Only which keeps us out of the most congested parts of the city where a program like ours can help the public the most by reducing the traffic burden. The City Planning department wants to delay any progress until late 2017. Urge your city council to move forward with an interim agreement for Instabike until the planning department has their Master Bicycle Plan in place.

I am currently drafting a formal letter to each city council member to request an interim operating agreement. My focus remains on bypassing the current administrative delays by presenting a concrete proposal for bicycle parking access.

The increase in support has provided the necessary leverage to request a formal meeting with the city council representatives. We are currently drafting a proposal for an interim operating agreement to be delivered to the planning department by the end of the week.

This is a great program. I have seen the bikes and I think the city is over stretching cause many hotels use the public bike racks near their properties for the bikes they rent through a 3rd party. Unless the city plans on auditing every single rental bike on island to see if it is "currently rented" it seems like an over reach.
As a regular visitor to Key West who has access to a great bikeshare in Washington, DC, I would LOVE to have bikeshare as an awesome way to get around KW.
Instabike did a great job of bringing a privately financed bike share pilot to Key West. It would be great if the city would allow them to operate in the public right of way and provide a new service to residents and visitors.
As the mechanic for Juice Bike share in Orlando, I have seen the positive impacts of a proper bike share. These bikes fit the needs of people's transportation better than other bike systems
The city has made a big stink about their Green Program so now they need to put their money where their mouth is!
Let it pass!!!!

In the 7 years I've lived here there has definitely been an increase in traffic. For those who commute downtown there are no parking places. Once this season it took 50 minutes to drive 3 miles across key west!
