Arco Iris Spanish Immersion School is a small public charter school in Beaverton, Oregon. We are applying for a federal charter school grant - the Non-SEA Planning, Program Design, and Implementation, CFDA 84.282B - and we need your support!

At Arco Iris, our mission is to foster an increased academic ability that includes students becoming bilingual, bi-literate and multi-cultural so that they are fully prepared for college, career and citizenship. Studying a second language increases the student’s cognitive flexibility, the ability to mentally shuffle material, significantly improving students’ problem solving abilities, and also leads to greater understanding of the world we live in. Our school also uses the Singapore Math curriculum which has helped Singapore students rank #1 globally every year in Math by TIMSS. Our students need every advantage they can get to compete in tomorrow's global economy. Results show that in our first two years of operation, students have met or exceeded state standards in both Reading and Math! Our student scores are among the highest in the state!

This grant will help us to build on our initial success by enabling us to procure textbooks, curriculum, technology equipment for teachers and students, library books, training in PBIS, immersion strategies and Singapore Math for our teachers. We currently have no library, no tech lab, no playgournd or formal music, PE or art classes.
