For whatever reason this was considered sexist, I do not believe given the circumstances it was intentional and I don't think it should be a stain on Dr Taylors career. I hope he can put this behind him and have as much success as he has so far.

As a woman and a science enthusiast, I want to extend heartfelt apologies to Matt for the bullying he was forced to endure in what was supposed to be a moment of triumph. It saddens me that there are people who, instead of focusing on a monumental scientific success that took 10 years to complete, chose instead to diminish and vilify another human being for his decision of not conforming to socially acceptable standards. I urge Matt not to give in to these people: they are not feminists, they don’t speak for eguality nor harmony… just like extremists, they revel in the chaos. They don’t want to build, they just destroy. So Matt, keep your head held high and don’t bow down to those who, with the excuse of oppression, want to stamp out your humanity.
