St Mary's Hospital, Stannington, Northumberland which closed in the 1990s is currently being developed as an executive housing site by Bellway Homes. Bellway inform us that there are no plans to mark the site's history. We, the undersigned, believe that the development should recognise the history of the hospital, and acknowledge the lives and deaths of the people who lived in , or were treated in this hospital and the staff who worked there. We believe that the most fitting way to achieve this is through a permanent plaque or monument in the former St Mary's grounds.
