I am honestly overwhelmed by how many people care about honoring the history of St Mary's. This momentum belongs entirely to the community members who refused to let these stories be forgotten.

Trained and worked at St Mary's 1967 until 1986. Former hospital should have some recognition
I was a patient at St. Mary's for several months in my late teens. The story is told in my book 'A Psychologist's Childhood: at the dawn of cognitive behaviour therapy'. The old psychiatric hospitals should not be forgotten, and there are various possibilities. My local area now is Worcester, where Powick Hospital was demolished a long time ago, being replaced with a housing estate. Local historians have written about it, made Youtube videos, and there is even a Powick room in the medical museum. I don't think there is a plaque, but that would have been nice.
Used to pass the gates every day on the bus. It was a huge part of Stannington for so long. Seems wrong to hide the history now.
ST MARYS DESERVES A PLAQUE AT LEAST. HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE SPENT YEARS OF THEIR LIVES THERE. DONT LET IT BE FORGOTTEN.
My mum worked the night shifts back in the 70s. Its a shame they want to just bulldoze everything like it never happened.
