I'm a proud parent of a transgender teenager, who needs support and affirmation - without shame or judgement.

Trans rights are human rights, children are human and should have these rights as well.

I have a long history of advocacy for the transgender community, especially for the kids and youth. I definitely support an affirmative, patient-centered approach to helping these transgender youth find their way.

I support the affirmative, patient-centred approach that meets current best practices. I support additional funding to develop more services to better support gender diverse children and their families through an affirming and trans-positive model of care, recognizing that gender diversity βis a matter of diversity, not pathology.β (WPATH Standards of Care, 2011, p. 4).

As a provider of care for gender non-confirming youth, I have seen the excruciating consequences of shaming transgender youth as well as they blossoming of those allowed to be their authentic selves. Reparative therapy is outrageous and, due to its harmful effects, not one medical society supports its use; in fact, many are vocal opponents. You should follow the recommendation of the vast majority of the medical community.
