We have to protect our heritage for generations to come. The sea is merely one of those assets we have to look after better than we have been for the past few decades. An increase of 4.6% to the proposed 5% marine protected areas of the total coast, is a good start. Were it up to me, marine protected areas could be easily increased to 20%. Great initiative and I hope if this goes through and we protect 5% of marine areas and that laws relating to environmental protection and sustainability will be enforced and prosecutors locked away.

It is absolutely essential to create more of these vital MPA's - an advantage in the long term to our entire planet.

If we cannot protect a mere 5% of our territorial waters, we will not be able to sustain our way of life.

Do the powers-that-be realise that raping the oceans for short-term gain will result in the long-term consequences of an ocean devoid of fish ?????

Ocean conservation has historically been neglegted and consequently our oceans are in a very poor state. We hope to change that now.
