Hertford changed for the better when Waitrose arrived, it would be a disaster for the town if they now pulled out. It's the heart of the town centre.

If this goes ahead it will destroy Hertford. We need to keep Hertford, (which is the county town of Hertfordshire) a vibrant commercial centre and the loss of this supermarket will be a disaster. We need something other than coffee shops to encourage people to come to Hertford and Waitrose is essential.

Moving Waitrose to van Hage would destroy Hertford town centre. The store is currently easily reached by public transport, this would be impossible if the store moves

With the increasing number of elderly people we need to keep Waitrose in the town centre in Hertford by the bus station. We should not destroy Hertford even more, by losing one its best shops.

What happens to Bircherley Green if Waitrose leaves and what happens to all the people who use this supermarket? They are not going to travel all the way to the Van Hage site! Sainsbury and Tesco are not convenient for people coming into Hertford by bus. There is also the question of building on green field site by Van Hage and traffic round there will be increased enormously. Will that be catered for adequately?

The building of a supermarket on the Van Hage site would add to the traffic on the A1170 and completely transform the site, in my opinion, for the worse. The loss of a supermarket in the very centre of Hertford would be a dastardly blow to the town and cause major inconvenience to countless people, not least as the bus station brings elderly and disabled people, not to mention others, right to the present supermarket, whoever runs it in the future.

I use Waitrose every time I go to Hertford, to get to Amwell I would need 2 buses each way,as I live in a village.

If these plans are allowed to proceed it will destroy the towns of Hertford and Ware and have an extremely detrimental effect to the Great Amwell area. Keep Waitrose in Hertford.

Parking at van Hages is bad at the best of times, with a supermarket on site it will be even worse. The impact of extra traffic on the approach road will be dreadful. Do we really need another Supermarket as we have so many in the surrounding towns.

The loss of Waitrose would be a disaster for Hertford town centre. It draws many people regularly into the town centre and bus services are right next door to the store. For those without a car a Waitrose superstore at Amwell would be inaccessible. Recent research has shown that one big shop out of town is going out of favour. Many prefer to shop little and often. Can't Waitrose be content with a smaller store in Hertford. We don't all like enormous ones. We certainly don't want to spoil any more of the Green Belt.

Besides the impact on the small village of Gt Amwell and the detriment to the county town of Hertford, no supermarket can possibly needed on this site. A new Asda has just opened only a couple of miles away in Ware which is already served by Tesco. Only a few miles in the other direction Hoddesdon is served by numerous supermarkets. The decision to allow this plan is flawed.
