Contrary to Jor-El's opening statement, this IS a fantasy, and one of the best pieces of fantasy cinema has created. Perhaps not the action packed adventure audiences expect today but the depiction of Americana from Kansas to vibrant city life of the '70's to the desert wastelands is so epic. It has a sense of wonder that is rarely aimed for in cinema today. Pure magic.

This film is by far the best of the best. As is common knowledge, it is THE superhero movie that all others (DC/Marvel) live up to due to its bar being set sky high.
I think it will be an abomination if Superman: The Movie does not get released on its 40th anniversary.
Let's face it, it started it all.
It was the "before" movie_-before Batman (all interpretations), X-Men, Spiderman, et cetera.

This film is the one that all other superhero movies try to emulate. It set the bar so very high for its time (1978).
I think it will be a safe bet that many tickets will be sold to see this in the theater. Just image, what an experience that would be!
