Superman : Red Son - DC Animated Movie
Superman: Red Son is a three-issue comic book series created by Mark Millar with the premise of what if Superman had been raised in the Soviet Union?
The story his filled with alternate versions of DC super-heroes and villains like Soviet Superman and Anarchist Batman as well as alternate versions of real political figures such as Joseph Stalin and John F. Kennedy.
In Red Son, Superman's rocket ship lands on a Ukrainian farm rather than in Kansas a small time difference (a handful of hours) from the original timeline, meaning Earth's rotation placed Ukraine in the ship's path instead of Kansas. Instead of fighting for "... truth, justice, and the American Way", Superman is described in Soviet radio broadcasts "... as the Champion of the common worker who fights a never-ending battle for Stalin, socialism, and the international expansion of the Warsaw Pact.".
Although Mark Millar's falling out with DC is a large reason why little to no content has been created for the Red Son mythos over the years, there has always been a large fanbase who would be more then willing to pay full price for an Animated version of the comic series. And although a mini episode series was created for it ( one that can still be found on You Tube for anyone curious ), fans have cried out for a REAL full length animated movie. And with the recent publication of several DC Animated movies, that range from mediocre to good in the story department and excellent to superb in visual and animation quality, Red Son is no where to be seen, even if recreating such an amazingly well written story would make gang busters for DC.
So join us comrade and fight for the common worker, help us carry the message of the people. May the will of the Red Son rise once again!
