Currently, the Broad St Line stops running at 12:41AM, and the Market-Frankford Line stops running at 12:54AM. The problem with this is that most of the bars, clubs, lounges in Philly close at 2:00AM, and some close later. So, when we are stumbling out of the bars in Old City around 2:00AM, our options of getting home are limited. Here are our options, along with their problems:

  1. Take the bus - These busses are inconsistent, confusing due to the constant re-routing, and are always packed.
  2. Take a cab - I cannot speak for everyone, but cabbing around the city is expensive. It's almost not even an option, especially for college students.
  3. Drive - This really is not much of an option unless you have a car in the city. In this case, the driver may or may not be drunk - more than likely drunk. We really do not need to get into the dangers of drunk driving, I'm pretty sure we all know them.
  4. Walk - If you live within a few blocks of the location you are at, this is the best option. More than likely this is not the case and you will be walking for a couple of hours, with the risk of getting robbed.

Obviously, none of these options are ideal, and nor is riding the subway - but the subway is the cheapest and quickest way to get around the city. What angers me most is that the Patco line runs all night long every night, what is wrong with Septa? I am not saying for the subways to run all night every night, but at least keep them running until 3:00AM on Thursday's, Friday's, and Saturday's so the bar sprawl can get home quick and safe.

Come on Philadelphia, let's make this happen! Sign the petition and pass it along to your friends!
